Influence of Wall Compliance on the Flow Patterns in a Patient-Specific Brachio-Cephalic Arterio-Venous Fistula

چکیده

Patients with end stage renal disease require some form of vascular access for treatment, Arterio-Venous Fistulas (avf) being the preferred available due to better patency rates. However, they continue present complications after creation, leading early or late failure. While many studies are examining flow in patient-specific fistulas, often neglect influence vessel compliance on its hemodynamics. The objective this study is investigate effect wall complex hemodynamics a brachio-cephalic avf and how it differs from rigid fistula. Particle Image Velocimetry (piv) was used capture pattern within fistula both steady (Re = 1817) pulsatile (Reav=1817, Remax=2232) conditions. results were compared model measurements performed under same Reynolds number. streamline plots coefficient variation did not differ significantly between models; however, non-dimensional velocity directional variability vary two fistulas. A difference approximately 8% seen models flow. findings suggest that determine bulk flow, adequate, but finer details compliant necessary.

Pulmonary arterio-venous fistula.

As would be expected, the lesion is recognized in young to early middle life. The patient tends to be frail rather than robust, though there are exceptions to this, and there is no physical retardation. Clubbing of the fingers is frequently present, and telangiectases or hemangiomata may be present in the skin or mucous membranes. The most common presenting symptoms are cyanosis, which sometime...

Intimal changes in the cephalic vein of renal failure patients before arterio-venous fistula (AVF) construction.

Native cephalic vein remains the superior dialysis conduit, even thirty years after it was first described. However, up to 37% of hemodialysis patients develop progressive stenosis in the venous circuit of arterio-venous fistula (AVF), which may later cause thrombosis and occlusion. To study the pre-existing morphological changes in the wall of the cephalic vein before AVF construction, we coll...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

Circulatory Changes in Pulmonary Arterio-Venous Fistula *

Reports of vascular tumors of the lung including arterio-venous fistula have appeared in the medical literature periodically since 1897.' Perhaps because of the stimulus of newer diagnostic techniques, there has been a recent increase in the number of case reports and reviews published.'''" The clinical features and diagnosis of pulmonary arterio-venous fistula have been amply discussed in thes...

Spontaneous closure of dural arterio-venous fistula.

Sir, Dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) account for 10–15% of the intracranial arteriovenous malformations. Though a subgroup of DAVFs has been reported to have a benign course complete spontaneous disappearance of DAVFs is uncommon. A 25-year-old male presented to us with history of headache and pulsatile tinnitus for three months with no deficits on neurological examination. Digital subtrac...
